Always a good thing, but sometimes hard to achieve, and always instructive: We know, when our efforts at standardization fail, we gain evidence against the measurability of the attribute we are attempting to quantify. Synonymous with arriving at a successful measure. How we make measures more accessible, communicable, and interpretable. Something which has benefits and costs; in some contexts, standardization is detrimental to good measurement. Something I never think about.
